Handcrafted gypsum and resin fluid art

Sprinkled with volcanic ash

Where opposites mingle

Inspired by the Icelandic wilderness

Behind every piece is a singular, hands-on journey. My practice is shaped by twenty years spent wandering the Icelandic wilderness, translating the resonance of the landscape into tactile forms. Each work is a fluid impression of the earth’s raw energy—a spontaneous improvisation where I hand-pour pigmented gypsum and resin, sprinkled with volcanic ash and sand. These are more than objects; they are expressions of a specific moment in time, bridging the strength of the land with the brilliance of the sky. By marrying technical precision with gravity-fed pouring, I create objects that fuse ancient origins with contemporary form, capturing the visceral language of texture: the grit of volcanic plains meeting the silk of Nordic light.

FLUID IMPRESSIONS

EXPRESSIONS INSPIRED BY THE ICELANDIC WILDERNESS

My work is neither planned study nor distant observation; it is an emergent phenomenon stemming from an exploration of liminal space—a reality distilled from the raw chaos and infused with my impressions of the Icelandic wild. I embrace the idea that the liminal is not a void, but the raw, felt reality of the earth beneath us: a space where structure arises from disorder. The Icelandic landscape provides the essential anchor for my work; without its specific elemental intensity, this study—manifesting as a series of fluid impressions—would lack its core reality. While much of the visual creation takes the form of abstract shapes, thresholds of recognition occasionally surface from the spontaneous reaction of the materials. These familiar forms are themselves liminal, emerging from the untamed to bridge the beauty of the unknown with the sanctuary of the home—distilling elemental expressions into quiet, enduring anchors for contemplation.
